The Purps at the Badger Stop
The Purps” is a family snap-shot of sorts. Two one-eyed creatures (Mom and Dad presumably) are standing eye-to- eye atop a three- legged-badger-esque creature while a scorpion tail shaped winged creature casually goes about his business – indicating that they are each riding a commuter badger. The two one-eyed creatures at the bottom right could be their children, who hopped off while the badger was still in motion – eager to get home to their video games…I paint what I feel, then see what I see… There was no intent to paint a badger-bus stop family transpo scene – I’m not Norman Rockwell, but I do love his style! 😉 Thank you!
Sunset Singularity (Indian Rocks Beach, FL Summer, 2014)
on exhibit 2/12 – 3/12/2015 Bamboozle Tea Lounge
Indian Rocks Beach provides some of the most gorgeous sunsets I’ve ever seen (and I’ve lived in both California and Hawaii)! This shot is one of a series taken during the summer of 2014, my first summer back in Florida, where I grew up splashing about in these very waters. The clouds in the upper left look a lot like a large dolphin and calf – or maybe a whale-dolphin hybrid if there were such a magnificent creature.
Earth Goddess is one of the only pieces I’ve ever painted with the intent to portray a specific figure. Completed in 2009 for the “Spring into Summer” exhibition at Gallery 800 in North Hollywood. It is one of my favorite pieces, with much going on for the viewer to play with. She is content in her own creation, and even the tree bends to play with its friends below. Nicholas the Awesome Dolphin
I snapped this photo of Nicholas while on one of my frequent visits to the CMA. Nicholas is the only male dolphin at the CMA (Winter and Hope being the females – and movie stars)! Nick is a delight to be with. He is also the only dolphin there who has not been featured in “A Dolphin Tale” or “Dolphin Tale 2” but I think he is just fine with being a behind the scenes kind of guy!
Freedom
“Freedom” was originally commissioned for the break room of my former employer in Los Angeles, CA. I poured my heart and soul into this piece (as I did my former job – which was a wonderful experience for several years). When the wonderful times had drawn to an end, me and my painting, “Freedom” hit the road and didn’t look back. When I gaze at this piece, I look back on that period of time with fond memories and a sense of soaring freedom from a situation that no longer served my soul.
